Welcome Jennifer to our Team!

Meet Jen!

We want to give a big welcome to our newest staff member, Jen! Jen joined out team last week and has hit the ground running. We are all really excited to get to know her, and see her in action in Youth Odyssey programs! She comes all the way from Minnesota, and brings with her tons of outdoor experiences. Jen loves to spend time outdoors, and what a coincidence that we do too!

About Jen

Jen grew up on a farm in southeast Minnesota and spent much of her youth playing outdoors and enjoying nature. It wasn’t until Jen participated in a travel study program called Pacific Challenge through Winona State University that she discovered her love of outdoor adventure activities. While immersed in the Pacific Challenge program, Jen got to spend 2 months traveling throughout New Zealand and Australia. There she engaged in tons of outdoor activities! Things such as backpacking, whitewater rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, rappelling, mountain biking, as well as bungee jumping and skydiving.

Jen graduated from Winona State University in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation and Tourism. For her final internship, she worked at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center/Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama. There Jen was a Crew Trainer leading groups of school students on tours and operating simulators for them to experience. This is where she developed an interest in working with youth. Because of this, Jen went on to teach environmental education at The Outdoor School in Marble Falls, Texas for 2 seasons. Since then she has traveled to various places throughout the U.S. continuing to teach environmental education to numerous amounts of schoolchildren.

Jen is currently CPR, First Aid, and Wilderness First Responder certified. She is excited to be back in Texas and can’t wait to explore everything Corpus Christi has to offer. We are eager for Jen to share her experiences and love for the outdoors with Youth Odyssey!
